Burt Hevia
Burt served as an external advisor to the firm from 2022 to 2026. In April 2026, he joined as a Partner in the Tax Advisory and Wealth Management department. He provides clients with comprehensive counsel on tax and wealth management matters, with a particular focus on international financial affairs and corporate tax structuring. Specifically, he has represented family groups, real estate companies, investment account management companies, and family offices. His practice centers on designing strategies for asset protection, maximizing tax efficiency, and optimizing cross-border investments across multiple jurisdictions.

Burt is an Attorney and a Public Accountant, having graduated from the Universidad de Los Andes in 2005 and 2006 (Mérida, Venezuela). He specialized in Tax Law at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and holds a Master’s degree in International Business Management from OBS Business School, University of Barcelona. Furthermore, he has expanded his expertise through advanced programs in Corporate Finance at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and International Taxation at ITAM (Mexico), Maastricht University (Netherlands), and the University of Valencia (Spain).
Professional Experience
Burt was part of the tax consulting and wealth planning team at Nerubay Abogados (Mexico City) from 2018 to February 2026. His previous experience also includes serving as an Associate Attorney at Baker & McKenzie, Deloitte, and D’Empaire within their tax consulting and litigation divisions in Caracas, Venezuela.
He is an active member of the Venezuelan Association of Tax Law (AVDT) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA, Venezuela Chapter). Furthermore, he has been a guest lecturer at Universidad Católica del Táchira and Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Venezuela). Burt has authored several publications focused on local and international taxation.
